Kasumi Shirahata

Kasumi is a Learning Designer/Impactful International Social Development specialist.

She is enthusiastic about seeing individuals fulfill their creative potential and talents. 

Having worked for the international development field of tri-sectors in various corners of the world, she curates transdisciplinary innovation programs for youth in co-creation with a broad range of partners, including project-based learning, boot camps, tech, D&I, peace, sustainability engagements to advance next-generation leaders at R-School co-launched as her lifework.

In parallel, as a seasoned international development professional, she has been involved in a wide range of sustainability, policy formulation and public-private partnerships in the Asia, Middle East, and Africa through the Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh as a diplomat, United Nations High commissioner for Refugees towards human rights protection, PwC and sustainable fashion brand start-up in Malaysia.

In 2019, Kasumi was chosen as Asia Pacific Leaders by the Obama foundation. She is also the author of "True Faces of Obama Foundation Asia Pacific Leaders" serialized in Courier Japon magazine to promote cohesive society in Asia. 

She holds an MSc in Development Administration and Planning from UCL in the UK and Halal Executive Professional Certificate from MTU and JAKIM in Malaysia. In her free time, she enjoys yoga, exploring Arts&Architecture and Farmers’ market.
